In 2012 the RST is planning its deput at the Hannover Messe trade show, the leading trade fair for energy. We present ourselves at the common Berlin-Brandenburg stand of the IHK (Chamber of industry and commerce). You will find us in the centrally located Hall 13. The Hannover Messe will be taking place from April 23 – 27.

A great deal of electrical energy is needed by the use of powerful testing and monitoring equipment at the RST. During the operation of the electrical equipment  a large part of the energy is converted into heat and partly it is released unused. In the current project:  “Development and implementation of an overall energy concept combined with the integration of renewable energies for the use of a technical service provider” among other things topics like heat recovery, heat production or recovery of electricity by re-using this waste heat are discussed, The overall concept being developed will be implemented and applied from 2012 onwards in the further constructive changes at RST.

As in previous years, the RST Rail System Testing GmbH will participate in InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin. As usual you will find us in Hall 3.2. The InnoTrans 2012 takes place from September 18 – 23. in the exhibition halls around the Berlin telecommunications tower. Of course we will give you information on the fair activities in good time.

In December this year further test procedures will be certified at the RST Rail System Testing GmbH during the monitoring audit of the test centre. The aim is to have fire tests according to GOST-12.1.004-91 such as combustibility (hard to ignite and combustible solid materials) and index of flame spread validated and certified beginning on January 1, 2012. This opens up the opportunity for our customers to have carried out GOST- fire tests in Germany in a fast and uncomplicated way in addition to the already existing GOST-certification tests.

Since July 1, 2011 the RST Rail System Testing GmbH has been running a welding workstation of its own. Among other things, it is used for manufacturing test frames for mechanical dynamic and mechanical static test tasks. A further priority is the construction of test facility and equipment for internal and external purposes.

The growing number of customer enquiries and the consequential need to develop new test procedures and test equipment required an increase of our skilled staff. We are very proud to have four new employees in our company since the middle of 2011. The new staff strengthens our enterprise in the fields of material testing, environmental simulation and fire testing. We look forward to a successful cooperation and wish the newcomers all the best for the future.

Since May 2, 2011 the fire laboratory of the RST GmbH is carrying out preliminary fire tests atrailway passenger seats. The tests on the basis of the currently being drawn up European standard are directed at entirely different evaluation criteria. In contrary to DIN 5510-2 the ignition source is no longer a standard paper ball, but a so-called EN 45545 square burner.

The European standard is now using evaluation criteria as the rate of heat release. The new standards confront component and passenger seat manufacturers with new interesting and ambitious challenges.

In addition to the demanding jobs in the field of environmental simulation the RST is carrying out preliminary fire tests according to GOST standards in its fire laboratory. Besides the classification of different products such as construction, flooring and flexible materials into flammability classes (hard to ignite) the fire behaviour, for example the index of the spread of flame, is examined. Therefore we have test equipment compliant to the GOST standards with modern measuring technology.

In the course of the recertification of the RST test center by the Registration Office for certification of rail transport in Russia the certification of fire tests according to GOST standard takes place. Consequently our customers get certified test services with the beginning of 2012.

Since December 28, 2010 the RST GmbH is officially certified as a test center for electro-technical certified testing of railway vehicles according to the Russian Federation Certification System (GOST standard).

Following the date of recognition as test centre the RST was already able to respond to a variety of test enquiries of the customers and thus make the market launch to Russia easier for the customers. The test center has the admission to perform certified tests at electrical auxiliary machines, electro-technical low-voltage equipment and high strength safety glass products for railway vehicles.

The certification application is made in the area of accreditation, and allows the performance of certification tests on electrical auxiliary machines, electro-technical low-voltage equipment and high-strength safety-glass products for rail vehicles.

We will do all we can to get the admission by the end of 2010.

The world-wide leading trade fair of railway industry the InnoTrans 2010 took place in Berlin from September 21-24, 2010.

As in the years 2004, 2006 and 2008 the RST Rail System Testing GmbH participated in this trade fair with an own booth at the corporate exhibition Berlin/Brandenburg.

 Now as the fair is over and having had the possibility to reflect about the numerous customer contacts we assess the following:

• the scope of services offered by the RST is in good demand;

• the know-how offered by RST especially by the employees is highly valuated by our customers

• the constant efforts for innovation and improvement convince our customers, even those coming to us with unusual questions and new developments.

We were able to draw the attention of many of our customers and interested in particular to  new tests offered by RST, such as e. g. new environmental simulations, fire reaction-, flue-gas- and toxicity analyses.

The process of certification for admission as “competent authorized department” according to DIN 27201-7 and DGzfP guideline 1” and as “test centre for electo-technical certification testing on rail vehicles” according to the Russian federal certification system (GOST) are nearly successfully finished.

With the help of these certifications the RST underlines it’s mainly international orientation of the service portfolio and ensures professional competence, innovation and perspectives in the transport sector for its customers and itself. These facts were confirmed by many InnoTrans2010 visitors.

The InnoTrans2010 was a successful presentation of achievements for the RST. The evaluation of talks, processing of customers orders and extension of the RST portfolio on the basis of customer’s ideas is going on and encourages us.
